Slang Glossary 

A 

  • Aura- Used to compliment someone for their charisma or presence.  
  • Example– “You have a glowing aura.” 
  • Ate/Ate That– did a great job; pulled it off well; had a lot of success with something.  
  • Example– You wear a good outfit and your friends say, “you ate that.” 
  • ASF– As Fuck. 
  • Example “That was cool ASF.” 

B 

  • Bae- An acronym that stands for “before anyone else,” or a shortened version of baby or babe. 
  • Example “My bae and I are going on a date.” 
  • Bet– To Agree or acknowledge. 
  • Example– Friend 1: “Let’s go to the movies later?” Friend 2: “bet.” 
  • Bestie– Another way to call someone your best friend or someone you just met that you want to be friends with. 
  • Example– “You’re my new bestie.” 
  • Bih– Another way to say bitch most likely in a formal way. 
  • Example– “What up bih.” 
  • Bruh– Another way for saying bro or could be said in annoyance 
  • Example– “Bruh you tripping.” 

C 

  • Cap– The same as saying someone is lying. 
  • Example– Friend 1: “I’m going to score 50 points in my game this weekend” Friend 2: “Cap” 
  • Chill– is a word that can be used for many things. It could describe being cool and a go with the flow person. 
  • Example– “Wow John is super chill.” 
  • Cringe– When something makes you feel embarrassment, 2nd hand embarrassment or awkwardness. 
  • Example– “John asking her out in front of the whole school was so cringe.” 

D 

  • Dead– A word you use when you find something hilarious. 
  • Example– “That joke was so good, I’m dead.” 
  • Dope– Another way to say something is cool. 
  • Example- “That was a dope performance.” 
  • Drip/Drippy– very appealing and cool; can be used to describe an outfit/accessory, person, song, etc. 
  • Example“That chain you have on is drip.” 

E 

  • Emo– Someone who is often emotional or is a drama queen. 
  • Example– “John is extremely emo.” 

F 

  • Fam– Another name to acknowledge your friend or someone you are close with. 
  • Example- “What up Fam” 
  • Finsta– Stands for “fake Instagram” where you post your everyday thoughts and what goes on in your life, most likely a private account with people you know. 
  • Fire– Something that is really good, amazing, crazy (in a good way) 
  • Example– “This song is fire.” 

G 

  • Gas– very strong marijuana, usually has a strong odor that lingers in an area much like gasoline. Can also be used to say something is really good or amazing, similar to the term “Fire.” 
  • Example– “We are smoking some gas.” “This food is gas” 
  • Ghost/Ghosted/Ghosting– When a person cuts off all communication with their friends or the person they’re dating, with zero warning or notice before hand. You’ll mostly see them avoiding friend’s phone calls, social media, and avoiding them in public. 
  • Example– “I thought we were going to go on a date, but she never showed and ghosted me.” 
  • GOAT– Acronym for Greatest of All Time. 
  • Example– “I think Lebron James is the GOAT.” 
  • Gucci– Another way to say sounds good, cool, agree etc. Very similar to the term “bet” and “dope.” 
  • Example- “Bro, it’s all Gucci.” 
  • GYAT– A Short term for “goddamn” used when someone sees a curvy woman and expressing excitement. 
  • Example– “Gyat that girl over there is good looking.” 

H 

  • High-key– it is the opposite of low-key. High key can mean you are very interested or doing something with intent. 
  • Example– “I high-key want to buy that shirt.” 
  • Hits Different– When something “hits different” it is significantly better than usual or is way better under certain circumstances. 
  • Example– “Taco bell hits different late at night.” 

I 

  • Ick– Something someone does that is an instant turn-off for you, making you instantly hate the idea of being with them romantically. 
  • Example– “Bad breath gives me the ick.” 
  • IYKYK– An acronym for “if you know you know.” 
  • IRL– An acronym for “In Real Life,” often used when gaming or talking online. 
  • Example– “We should meet IRL.” 

K 

  • Karen– Middle aged woman, typically blonde, makes solutions to others’ problems an inconvenience to her although she isn’t even involved or affected. 
  • Example– “You’re being a Karen right now for telling my friends and I to stop playing and having fun.” 
  • KMS– An acronym for “Kill Myself.” 
  • KYS– An acronym for “Kill Yourself.” 

L 

  • Lit– A term used to describe something that is cool and exciting, or just generally something you would want to experience. 
  • Example– “I want to go to the party; it is going to be lit.” 
  • Low-key– The opposite of the term “high-key”, means secretly or discretely; Also, can mean slightly or kind of. 
  • Example– “I’m low-key sad the school year is ending.” 

M 

  • Mewing– involves putting pressure on the roof of your mouth with your tongue to try and change the shape of your face. 
  • Example– “John has improved his facial structure by mewing the past 6 months.” 
  • Mid– Used to insult or degrade an opposing opinion, labeling it as average or poor quality. 
  • Example– “I have waited forever for that album to drop and it was mid.” 

N 

  • Netflix and Chill– Something you tell your parents when you want your boyfriend/girlfriend to come over and they have sex 
  • Example– “She is just coming over and we are going to watch some Netflix and chill.” 
  • No cap– convey authenticity and truth; Not “capping” or lying. 
  • Example– “I got an A on my test no cap.” 

O 

  • OFC– An acronym for “Of course.” 
  • Example– “OFC he hit a home-run in that situation.” 
  • ONG– An acronym for “On God”, basically swearing to God. 

P 

  • Period/Periodt- When someone explains that they are done with something or someone at the end of their sentence or they are emphasizing a point they made. 
  • Example– “I am not going to keep dealing with this period.” 
  • Plug– Slang for a drug dealer, who supplies someone who wants drugs with their drugs. Also referred to as a drug ‘connect’. Can also be used for someone who has something you want not related to drugs. 
  • Example– “My plug John will hook you up.” “I can plug you with that girl if you like her.” 
  • Pookie– A nickname which you call your best friend or someone you are in a relationship with. 
  • Example– “My pookie and I are going on a date this weekend.” 

R 

  • Rizz– Another phrase for spitting game/how good you are with getting girls/guys. 
  • Example– “John gets all the girls because he has rizz.” 

S 

  • Salty/Sawty– When you are upset over something little. 
  • Example– “John was salty that he lost in Mario Kart.” 
  • Shade/Shading– A comment with slight disrespect towards an individual. 
  • Example– “John threw shade at Chuck for playing bad in his baseball game.” 
  • Simp– Someone who goes to an extreme extent for a person they like. 
  • Example– “John is such a simp, he canceled on us to hang with a girl that doesn’t even like him.” 
  • Skibidi– Has a variety of meanings ranging from “cool” to “dumb.” Very popular in the gaming community and the younger generation with no direct meaning. 
  • Skibidi Toilet– A phrase created by DaFuq!Boom on YouTube, which is a series of camera men-like creatures an toilets with the heads of characters from the game Gary’s Mod, Skibidi Toilet is mostly aimed at children. 
  • Slaps– A way to describe food, music, etc. Mostly things that would bring someone joy as desirable. 
  • Example– “This cheeseburger slaps.” 
  • Slay– killed it or succeeded in something amazing. 
  • Example– “John slayed the talent show.” 
  • Smash– to have sex, sexual relations any sexual manner 
  • Example– “She came over and I smashed.” 
  • SMH– An acronym for “Shaking my head.” 
  • Squad– A very close friend group that is often seen together. 
  • Example– “The squad and I are going to hangout at the mall.” 
  • Sus– Giving the impression that something is questionable or dishonest; suspicious. Can also be used if someone is saying they suspect someone to be homosexual. 
  • Example– “John is being very sus right now.” 

T 

  • TBH– An acronym for “to be honest.” 
  • Tea– A specific kind of gossip, typically shared between friends. it’s a bonding tool for people of all ages. tea is usually about someone you know, but can also extend to celebrities random internet scandals, etc. 
  • Example– “Come over later so you can spill the tea.” 
  • Thicc/Thick– Having an attractive or curvy body. 
  • Example– “Dang she is thicc.” 
  • TF– An acronym for “The fuck.” 
  • Thirsty– Too eager or desperate to get something specifically things such as sex, alcohol, girls, drugs etc. 
  • Example– “Dang you’re thirsty for her.” 

V 

  • Vibe/Vibing– To chill , be at peace, and let life do it’s thing. 
  • Example– “You need to relax and just vibe.” 

W 

  • WAP– An acronym for “wet ass pussy.” 
  • WYA– An acronym for “where you at?”
